Michael Powers

Michael Powers is vice-president, sales & marketing and co-founder of Stellar Solar, the licensed provider of photovoltaic solar energy systems for The Home Depot, BP Solar and SunPower in Southern California.

In 2001, he helped launch The Home Depot’s national solar energy program. He is a writer and marketing professional with over 30 years’ experience in the fields of energy, retail intelligence and publishing.

He currently serves as treasurer and board member of Global Energy Network Institute (GENI), a non-governmental organization that advocates linking renewable energy resources around the world using electricity transmission.

Mr. Powers’ most recent public appearances on behalf of GENI were:
 

  • March 2007 at Stanford University, Association for International Development’s energy conference, where his topic was, “New World Wide Web of Electricity: Key to Fighting Climate Change” and

    •   
  • May 2007 at the World Economic Forum's Energy Industry Strategy Meeting, held in London.
